and then I mixed... Smokin' Mary

And Then I Mixed: a drinkin' post.

Easy, tasty, fresh and (if my chipotle-heavy experiences in Toronto are anything to go by) très in.  Behold, a Smokin' Mary.  Don't hold it against me if I photographed a virgin version...

Smokin' Mary

prep time: 5 minutes
serves 1

ingredients:

4 oz tomato or tomato-vegetable juice
1 1/2 oz (1 shot) vodka
1/2 oz (3 tsp) lemon juice
dash of Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp chipotle Tabasco (or the usual replacements*)
salt or celery salt
black pepper
celery stalk, for garnish
lemon slice or wedge, for garnish

*adobo sauce from a can of chipotles in adobo, or chipotle powder

directions:

Mix all wet ingredients in a highball glass.  Stir in the spices & seasonings.  Add ice if desired.  Top with a sprinkle of black pepper and garnish with celery stalk & lemon slice/wedge.  Garnish with chipotle pepper flakes for extra panache.
